'Charting the Course'
is an education
proposal
that encourages
more whole brain
thinking,
the reliance
on
interhemispheric
thinking,
which brings
together
dominant
left-
and
right-brained
thinkers, in a
closed, holistic
learning network.

The author of this
website has written
in her book, Holistic
Living: Tips for
Youth, how
people along the
autism spectrum are
naturally more
right-brained,
while "neurotypical"
people, tend to, from a young age, become dominant
left-brained
thinkers, with the exception that both
character-types
access interhemispheric, and graduated, thought.

The 'Charting the Course' education proposal
shares a vision for a school system that will help all character-types, including people who are dominant left-brained thinkers, who think more linearly, and who are dominant right-brained thinkers, who think more by association, in part by bringing them together into one classroom.

The proposal is also for a single, closed, holistic system, which interweaves the modern education system with holistic, closed systems of the world.

Imagining Charlie Rose in Diplomacy

I am not alone as an American, and probably as an international audience member, to have over the years tuned into the Public Broadcasting System's local affiliate, night after night, to watch yet another highly acclaimed conversation between Charlie Rose, about the most respected and famed talk show host, we might say, of the modern era, and his regular guests, be they American statesmen, international statesmen, business leaders or actors and artists.

There is something drawl in a month or year, of my life, that doesn't have in it this complement of our cultural make-up, with all of its relevance, and its mutual understanding, simply a rare in-depth journalistic interview, that is typically both heartfelt, and forthright, conversation, featuring Charlie Rose.

Now this isn't to say other journalists don't attempt to and achieve a similar effect in their interview style, they do. And more and more, it is becoming the standard by which a journalistic interview is considered. Is there honesty, in-depth conversation, and a sense of togetherness and trust between host and guest, and the audience.

Yet, I am imagining the Charlie Rose conversation as a part of our open diplomacy and international development in national and world affairs, where the very same kind of people who have graced the Charlie Rose show's roundtable late at night over the years, also conduct a similar business in their everyday working relationships, whether in business, politics or the arts.

Otherwise, we tend to refer to the Charlie Rose type interview, for understanding and even documentation of a person's story and, sometimes, position.

If we could see this level of frank and loving conversation in open diplomacy circles, we might do more than we right now can imagine to uplift the nature of the work we do for both open diplomacy and international development. It might become part of our standard, the remarkable art of conversation, not merely behind close doors, if this happens, but in front of large and small audiences, in front of people at public forums or meetings, and with the people or citizens with whom we all engage.

Conversation heals.
